The CMS system is designed to measure color on-line during a pellet stream falling down through a tube with an optical window allowing a reflective measurement to be carried out. Color Measuring System is a fully automatic system for the measurement of color of polymer granulates. The compact and robust design is suitable for laboratory as well as production applications. The system uses a hopper to collect the samples passed through a channel with a color spectrometer to record and define the colour spectrum of the granulates.
The colorimeter has been designed to operate in areas where color reproduction is extremely important and where long-term stability needs to be guaranteed without the need for periodic calibrations. Colors are measured according to the human eye (CIE1931). It uses XYZ interference filter-based technology which guarantees long term stability and consistency among devices. The light source is stabilized through an optical feedback loop. It can measure up to 10,000 color points per second.

- A color space display (various features can be visualized) and the actual measuring point is positioned in the color space;
- A database visualization where the specific color parameters can be stored and copied to an external file;
- A real time flow chart of critical to quality color parameters which can be used for process control;
- For clients special interfacing protocols can be provided.
